Fatal Pedestrian Accidents in Louisiana
Every year, tens of thousands of people are injured in motor vehicle accidents across our state. Although the majority of these victims are inside vehicles at the time of their accidents, thousands are traveling along roadways on foot. Unlike other motorists, pedestrians are particularly vulnerable to sustaining severe injuries in accidents. This is due to the fact that they do not have steel frames protecting them during collisions.
According to statistics, more than 80% of accidents take place as a result of driver negligence. When motorists are distracted, impaired, or engaged in reckless behaviors, it can have life-altering consequences for others traveling on and near roadways. Pedestrian accidents are often preventable. However, we continue to see the devastating consequences that victims and their families are forced to face. When pedestrians lose their lives in accidents, due to the negligent or reckless actions of motorists, it is imperative that their families reach out to a knowledgeable wrongful death attorney in Louisiana as soon as possible. In some cases, families are able to file legal claims against at-fault drivers in order to recover full and fair compensation to help alleviate the financial burdens they face moving forward.
