Shreveport, LA – Four Injured During High-Speed Chase Collision at E. 70th St and Fairfield Ave
Shreveport, LA (September 14, 2021) – Emergency response teams were dispatched to the scene of a car accident in Shreveport on Tuesday, September 14th.
The collision occurred at about 11:00 a.m. at the intersection of Fairfield Avenue and East 70th Street. An eyewitness in the area said it was a high-speed chase that caused the accident. Police at the scene reported that officers observed a speeding Mustang but when officers tried to pull the vehicle over, the driver refused to stop. The attempted traffic stop then turned into a high-speed chase that lasted for nearly eight blocks, until the suspect’s vehicle ran a red light at East 70th Street and Fairfield Avenue and t-boned a passing pick-up truck.
The suspect driving the Mustang was transported to a nearby hospital. He is facing charges of aggravated flight and two counts of negligent injury. A total of four people were injured, three of whom were taken to local hospitals. One of the injured people was inside King Tire when the accident occurred and was struck by flying debris. Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
T-Bone Accidents in Shreveport
Any kind of car accident can happen at an intersection. One of the most severe, however, is a broadside collision. Often called a T-bone collision, these violent accidents occur when the front of one vehicle crashes into the side of another. In 2017, T-bone collisions, and other side-impact accidents, caused the deaths of over 1,780 victims nationwide.
An estimated 10,000 people lose their lives every year in the United States during side-impact crashes, accounting for about 25% of all crash fatalities in an average year. In addition to these deaths, several thousand victims sustain serious injuries during this type of car accident.
Most drivers do their best to be mindful of others. Sadly, they are not guaranteed the same in return. Partially due to this lack of courtesy and good judgment, several thousand accidents take place every day in the United States.
