New Orleans, LA – Head-on Crash at LA Hwy 1179 & Coleman Rd Leaves One Dead, One Injured
New Orleans, LA (August 23, 2021) – On Sunday morning, August 22, Louisiana State Police Troop E responded to a two-vehicle crash that occurred on Louisiana Highway 1179 near Coleman Road and left one woman dead.
An initial investigation revealed that a 2006 Ford Fusion, driven by 44-year-old Brandy R. Hairford, was traveling southbound on Louisiana Highway 1179 around 11:00 a.m. For reasons that are still under investigation, Hairford crossed into the northbound travel lanes and hit a 2013 Dodge Durango head-on.
Hairford sustained fatal injuries in the wreck and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Durango sustained moderate injuries and was rushed to a local hospital to be treated.
Toxicology samples were obtained and submitted for analysis, though the crash remains under investigation at this time.
