Head-On Accidents in Lafayette
A head-on collision, also known as a wrong-way collision, is a term that refers to the impact between the front-ends of two vehicles moving in opposite directions. This type of car crash has the highest chance of leaving its victims with serious or even fatal injuries.
When a driver heads into traffic coming from the opposite direction, the likelihood of a deadly head-on crash is high. These kinds of accidents are often far more severe than other forms of two-car crashes.
The amount of force that is typically exerted during this kind of collision is extreme and the reason head-on collisions accounted for almost 30% of all fatal traffic accidents in 2017.
Accident data indicates that these wrong-way collisions have a 60% mortality rate. While these accidents only account for approximately 2% of all traffic accidents annually in Louisiana, they are responsible for around 10% of all yearly vehicular fatalities.
