Kinder, LA – Jamie Fontenot Killed in Hit-and-Run Bicycle Crash on Hwy 383 at Ikes Rd
Kinder, LA (July 14, 2021) – Troopers with the Louisiana State Police Department were notified of a fatal hit-and-run crash involving a bicyclist that occurred shortly before midnight on Wednesday evening, July 14.
Per a report released by LSP Troop D, the incident occurred on Louisiana Highway 383 near Ikes Road, which is located about 3 miles west of Kinder. The crash claimed the life of 44-year-old Jamie Fontenot of Scott. A preliminary investigation revealed that Fontenot was riding her bicycle southbound on LA 383 when she was hit by an unknown vehicle. After striking Fontenot, the driver of that vehicle fled the crash scene.
Fontenot sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash and despite life-saving measures attempted by paramedics, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
This crash remains under investigation, but troopers are asking the public for their assistance. Police ask that anyone with information regarding the crash to contact Louisiana State Police Troop D.
