Bayou Louis, LA – LDWF Investigating Death of Kevin E. Evans in Boating Accident
Bayou Louis, LA (September 08, 2021) – The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries was called to investigate a fatal boating incident that took place in Bayou Louis and left one man dead on Sunday, September 5th.
According to a press release from the LDWF, the body of 50-year-old Kevin E. Evans, a resident of Lafayette, was turned over to the Catahoula Parish Coroner’s office who will determine an official cause of death.
At about 6:35 p.m., agents with the LDWF were notified of a single vessel incident in Bayou Louis.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing Evans water skiing behind a boat when he fell into the water. As he tried to climb back on board, the prop struck him in the leg, resulting in a severe injury.
The other people on the boat managed to pull Evans aboard and called for help.
Evans was pronounced dead on the bank just a few minutes later. He was wearing a personal floatation device at the time of the accident.
LDWF is the lead investigative agency on this case.
