New Orleans, LA – Two Dead, One Critically Injured in 7th Ward Car Accident, Fire
New Orleans, LA (September 01, 2021) – Two people died and a third was critically injured on Tuesday, September 1st when their car crashed into a tree and burst into flame in New Orleans’ 7th Ward.
The accident took place at about 3:20 p.m. in the river-bound lanes of the 2500 block of Elysian Fields Avenue.
Police reported that, for unknown reasons, the victim’s Nissan Sentra struck a curb, swerved into the median, hit a tree and a traffic light, and came to an uncontrolled stop in the left lane. The vehicle was then engulfed in flames.
Two people were thrown from the vehicle.
One of them, a 57-year-old male, was pronounced at the scene.
Emergency Medical Services transported the second victim, an 85-year-old male, to a local hospital. He passed away due to the severity of his injuries.
An 83-year-old woman was transported in critical condition.
No additional information has been released.
